I remember us having a discussion on linux PVRs a few months back and was wondering how the project was progressing. Are we going to get a MUUG presentation anytime soon? Some quick questions... MythTV or FreeVo? Is it possible to setup multiple capture cards to record 1 TV program while watching another? Any chance of making it work with ExpressVu without their box? thanks in advance. -- The Seed Organization

Detillieux) The Manitoba UNIX User Group (MUUG) will be holding its next monthly meeting on Tuesday, February 8. The meeting topic for this month is as follows: Revolution OS Since our scheduled presenter (that would be Shawn) had an unexpected business trip, we will be showing Revolution OS. So bring your popcorn. Revolution OS tells the inside story of the hackers who rebelled against the proprietary software model and Microsoft to create GNU/Linux and the Open Source movement. There are interviews with Linus Torvalds, Richard Stallman, Bruce Perens, Eric Raymond, Brian Behlendorf, Michael Tiemann, Larry Augustin, Frank Hecker, and Rob Malda (from Slashdot). For more information on Revolution OS, visit the website at www.revolution-os.com. The group holds its general meetings at 7:30 PM on the second Tuesday of every month from September to June. (There are no meetings in July and August.) When you arrive, you will have to sign in at the reception desk, and then wait for someone to take you (in groups) to the meeting room. Limited parking is available for free on the street, or in a lot across Ellice from IBM, for $1.00 for the evening. Problem with fetchmail

Hi everyone, I'm using a redhat 7.2 with fetchmail 5.9.0+IMAP-GSS+SSL+INET6+NLS I have a problem where it is giving error code 2, and when I check, the socket opens manually, however, when as a script, it does not seem to want to open a socket. I have changed MTU's, checked against another server and against the protocols as per the /etc/services. Unfortunately, I cannot upgrade the server as the programs are old, and I need to find a solution. Can anyone help? Chris

The IMIT Network is devoted to disseminating new ideas about ICT sustainability models for the voluntary sector, including special emphasis on the use of FOSS within the sector. The IMIT Manitoba Network has been established as a Pan-Manitoba partnership and was initiated to provide support for the voluntary and non-profit sector, by the voluntary and non-profit sector. Fedora Updates

I started to get error messages a week ago when trying to use redhat-update (reconfig'd to point to MUUG site as per newletter). Photo printer recommendations?

I'm about to take the plunge and get myself a photo printer. I was wondering if any of you had any recommendations for good printers (or others to avoid) toward the lower end ($150-$250). Something like the Epson R300 or the Canon i960 is more in my price range, if those are reasonable choices... Feature-wise, the R300 seems like a better choice. On the other hand, a tech. co-worker of my brother's (whose done a lot of work servicing printers), recommends Canon printers over other brands as generally more reliable (and usually having less expensive consumables). Mind you, this recommendation is from a while ago, and applied to general-purpose inkjet printers, and not photo printers specifically. I figured some of you probably have more experience with this sort of thing than I do, so I'd welcome your opinions. Thanks. -- Gilbert E.
