How does on get the date function to work in Libre Office spreadsheet?

Hi, I've formatted the cells as date mm/dd/yy and entered the values as is. Also tried by preceeding with equal sign in case deemed to be a formula but neither works. I assume a difference between two days yields the difference in days, correct? Or are the formula different than plain math? Eduard the Osborne guy at last meeting

talk/ntalk

Has anyone gotten talk or ntalk working on a modern distro in the last few years? I can't get talk to work in Fedora 30 no matter what I do. It installs with a systemd setup but it won't start that way. I tried doing it the old xinetd way, but that doesn't seem to work either. Seems impossible? Any other ideas for extremely simple command line 2-person chat that uses no external servers (no I don't want to setup my own irc server! hopefully!)? Don't tell me I'll have to write my own... Thanks!

Gmail problem sending from your own SMTP server

Gmail is sure piling up its problems like never before in my 8-10 years of using it. In addition to the other issues of the last two months, we now have: The recent intermittent Gmail problem in sending from your own SMTP server (if you don't want your "send from" address at your own domain name to be an "alias" of your Gmail address) has now become an "always happens" problem. Here's the failure message you get from Gmail: Message not delivered You're sending this from a different address or alias using the 'Send mail as' feature. The settings for your 'Send mail as' account are misconfigured or out of date. Check those settings and try resending. TLS Negotiation failed, the certificate doesn't match the host. After much experimenting and Internet research, I found the answer buried in Gmail support forums - an answer from a smart user, not from Google. In my case, since I use Tucows/OpenSRS for my SMTP server, the chain is smtp-1.marityme.com [cname] --> smtp.marityme.com.cust.a.hostedemail.com --> 216.40.42.5 --> [RDNS] mail.hostedemail.com Tucows/OpenSRS specifies the server *smtp.marityme.com.cust.a.hostedemail.com <http://smtp.marityme.com.cust.a.hostedemail.com>*, which I cname to for concenience and elegance, and that resolves to * 216.40.42.5*, whose RDNS lookup gives *mail.hostedemail.com <http://mail.hostedemail.com>*. Now, unlike before, Gmail expects me to give *mail.hostedemail.com <http://mail.hostedemail.com>* as the SMTP server in the "send from" configuration, and then the sending mechanism works again (at least yesterday and today, who knows about tomorrow). v1 - SODIMMs only v2 - updated SODIMM list, added DIMMs v3 - removed Samsung 8GB DIMMs, expanded distribution of email Sorted by type, then speed, then size. I'd like to not move these from my old basement to my new basement this summer... and no, I have no idea why I still have PC100 and PC133 RAM hanging around - the DIMM in the top row is clearly from Computer Boulevard! Looking for an AMD Phenom II CPU

A reminder about the April MUUG meeting (originally posted March 18th): The Manitoba UNIX User Group (MUUG) will not be holding its next monthly meeting on Tuesday, April 14th: April 14, 2020: CANCELLED In light of the current concerns over COVID-19 and the risk of infection, and in keeping with a directive from the University of Winnipeg (which states "All discretionary events on campus currently scheduled until May 1, 2020 will be postponed."*), the MUUG board has decided to cancel the April 14th meeting.
