Lindsay (the CLL supervisor) has asked if I could ask the folks at the MUUG if there is anyone in the club with Clonezilla experience who could show up for a Friday to go over our set up and see what we are missing. There are two of us working on the server and between the two of us we can almost get it working consistently. What we are doing should work (and did work for six machines a month ago). SunFire V490 remote access

At work we have a Sun SunFire V490 test machine (with dev/production coming late summer). I'd like to access the console (e.g. for boot PROM access) remotely via network. Is there a built-in way to do that, similar to HP's iLO (integrated Lights-Out) management port? Or do I need some kind of serial->LAN adapter? Or just set up a PC running Linux beside it? :-) We've got lots of those kicking around!

Hello, Sorry, I realize this is not *nix related but it's shell related so that's gotta count for sumpin, right? :) I want to increase the font size of the command prompt shell from within a batch file. The Manitoba UNIX User Group (MUUG) will be holding its next monthly meeting on Tuesday, April 12. The meeting topic for this month is as follows: UNIX Certification -- why bother? Many UNIX professionals come from unusual backgrounds: geology, mathematics, music performance, etc. Given the inward-looking nature of the UNIX job market, why bother getting certified when no-one cares about your education? Yet with over a dozen current designations available, someone must … [View More]be taking these courses and writing those tests -- training course development is expensive! Find out what's available, why it matters to you, and what difference it makes to employers. Adam Thompson will be our presenter for this topic. Also up, Gilbert Detillieux will present an RTFM on sudo(8), one of the most used (or abused) commands in a sysadmin's toolkit. The group holds its general meetings at 7:30pm on the second Tuesday of every month from September to June. (There are no meetings in July and August.) Meetings are open to the general public; you don't have to be a MUUG member to attend. ********************************************************************** Please note our meeting location: The IBM offices, at 400 Ellice Ave. (between Edmonton and Kennedy). When you arrive, you will have to sign in at the reception desk, and then wait for someone to take you (in groups) to the meeting room. Please try to arrive by about 7:15pm, so the meeting can start promptly at 7:30pm. Don't be late, or you may not get in. (But don't come too early either, since security may not be there to let you in before 7:15 or so.) Non-members may be required to show photo ID at the security desk. Limited parking is available for free on the street, either on Ellice Ave. or on some of the intersecting streets.
