Mac OS X Snow Leopard

Does anyone have a copy of Mac OS X Snow Leopard they could bring to the meeting tomorrow night? My (retail copy) appears to be damaged, and it won't boot. Do you think I could get my copy exchanged for a working copy at the Apple store? Are they that nice? :-) Kevin

Storage systems continue to present important research challenges and opportunities today. The rapid increase in the volume and variety of digital data, the trend toward using commodity components rather than custom-built hardware, the ability to insert new filesystem functionality transparently in hypervisors, the emergence of persistent storage memory technologies, the challenges of "big data," the rise of distributed key-value stores (such as nosql), and the proliferation of storage devices in consumer electronics all offer exciting opportunities and new challenges. We expect the workshop submissions to advocate fresh, unorthodox approaches advancing the state of the art in file and storage systems design. Ideas presented in the workshop should provide a new look at storage technologies and eventually lead to work that will likely appear in top-tier systems conferences. The HotStorage workshop aims to bring together researchers interested in presenting their thoughts and engaging in discussions with their colleagues. MUUG Meeting, Feb 8, 7:30pm -- FOSS Games

The Manitoba UNIX User Group (MUUG) will be holding its next monthly meeting on Tuesday, February 8. The meeting topic for this month is as follows: FOSS Games Open source games seem to number in the zillions. This month we'll take a look at a few of them in the form of multiple mini-presentations. Expect a demo-oriented format with plenty of visuals. Mike Pfaiffer will lead off. Other presenters TBA. Also up, Adam Thompson will present an RTFM on netstat, the useful all-things-network display utility that no good network admin should be without. The group holds its general meetings at 7:30pm on the second Tuesday of every month from September to June. (There are no meetings in July and August.) Meetings are open to the general public; you don't have to be a MUUG member to attend. ********************************************************************** Please note our meeting location: The IBM offices, at 400 Ellice Ave. (between Edmonton and Kennedy). When you arrive, you will have to sign in at the reception desk, and then wait for someone to take you (in groups) to the meeting room. Please try to arrive by about 7:15pm, so the meeting can start promptly at 7:30pm. Don't be late, or you may not get in. (But don't come too early either, since security may not be there to let you in before 7:15 or so.) Non-members may be required to show photo ID at the security desk.
