Question about OS X Server

Good day, I was wondering about the following. What do Write_Store, LSRegister, and LSRecentTool do on a Mac OS X Server? I have searched the usual places (Google, Apple, etc.) but there does not seem to be any information. XMMS and Red Hat 8.0 (psyche)

Note copied from front page of xmms.org ---------------------------------------- if you are using Redhat 8 and the supplied RPMS of XMMS you will find that it is not possible to load any mp3 files. Redhat was supposed to have a placeholder plugin informing you of the change, but that seems to have gone missing. Available >> here << is some additional information and a mpg123 RPM for Redhat 8 installation of XMMS. Hopefully, I've made myself clear on this subject, since Redhat apparently failed to get their message through. Just do a "rpm -Uvh xmms..." to install it. Why *.i386.rpm?

I've got RedHat 7.3 on an old computer with an AMD K6-2 processor. Looking through /var/log/rpmpkgs, I see that nearly every package came from an i386 rpm. The exceptions are kernel-2.4.18-10.i586.rpm and xmame-0.57.1-2.i586.rpm. gcc 2.96 supports -march=k6, but the gcc info file doesn't say much. Is there any difference between -march=k6 and the intel equivalent (which would be -march=i586, I think)? Are there any programs that would benefit from recompilation for the k6 or i586? I expect XFree86 would be able to make use of the MMX instructions. How about AMD's 3DNow extensions?

Detillieux) The Manitoba UNIX User Group (MUUG) will be holding its next monthly meeting on Tuesday, October 8. The meeting topic for this month is as follows: Introduction to DHCP Kevin McGregor, Network Analyst with the City of Winnipeg, will describe the theory, benefits and general operation of the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol. DHCP is a well-defined protocol which is widely implemented but not well understood. This presentation will leave you with a good idea of how and why to implement DHCP in your network environment, whether you manage a home network or a WAN in a large company. The meeting will also include our usual round-table discussion, plus the votes on both the by-law amendments and the MUUG board of directors. The group holds its general meetings at 7:30 PM on the second Tuesday of every month from September to June. (There are no meetings in July and August.) Meetings are open to the general public; you don't have to be a MUUG member to attend. ********************************************************************** Please note our new meeting location: The IBM offices, at 400 Ellice Ave. (between Edmonton and Kennedy). When you arrive, you will have to sign in at the reception desk, and then wait for someone to take you (in groups) to the meeting room. Limited parking is available for free on the street, or in a lot across Ellice from IBM, for $1.00 for the evening.
