Offtopic plea for help
This is not at all a Unix question, but I don't have any better ideas. I have a Pioneer DV-343 DVD player, and it works fine with CDs, but when I pop in a movie DVD, I get no sound. The picture plays fine. It *used* to play the sound, but I want to be really sure this player is defective before I buy another one. I have another DVD player which plays just fine through the exact same connection to my Yamaha 5.1 Dolby Digital receiver. So, does anyone have a home theatre system and want to try plugging in my DVD player to it and see if they can wrestle some sound out of it? The DVD player has stereo, S/PDIF coax and S/PDIF fibre outputs. It should be easy to pop it in place of your current player. I can bring it to the meeting on Tuesday if there are any takers.
