A theoretical question: is it still possible to host a physical server in Winnipeg somewhere? What would be the range of the hosting price per 1U, if there are no large traffic needs to it?
Googling brought me https://www.datacentermap.com/canada/winnipeg/fiber-back-up-canada.html which lists a price from 2015, $190/U. Is it a right range or things became much cheaper since? I am interested in the order of magnitude of the prices.

Les.net / Global Server Centre / Bell MTS / Manitoba Hydro Telecom are the colo providers that I'm aware of in town.
Haven't heard much about fibre fortress these days, but they were in town too.
Personally I would suggest gsc or Les.net depending on price vs quality.

There are others. You can buy a full cabinet from MTS, or a half cabinet from GSC (https://www.exg.ca/copy-of-technology), or probably more flexible options from http://LES.net.
And there are other places but most require at least a half cabinet. I'm currently a customer of GSC. I like it there.

Definitely. Off the top of my head, you've got * Bell MTS Datacenters <-- https://www.bellmtsdatacentres.com/ * GSC <-- no online presence to speak of, weird. There are a handful of smaller operations around the city that will host your box, but they tend to be an entire tier down from there, and not necessarily any cheaper. -Adam
