Just bought a couple of WDC SE hard drives and running them in a software RAID 1 configuration.
One drive is often not recognised at boot up. It does not happen all the time but occassionally on reset. After not being recongnised it requires a power cycle to get it back. It does not matter whether it is on the primary or secondary IDE.
Has anyone seen this behaviour.
Thanks, Bill
Any chance this could be related to the recalls of 40 and 80 GB drives mentioned on slashdot?

Mike,
Thanks for mentioning it so I checked the articles. It does not apply since the mentioned problem is related to platter manufacturing, WD was not one of the companies mentioned and the companies deny that there is a recall.
