I think you can put arbitrary key-value pairs in trn:slots. I tried a quick experiment, and <gnc:transaction version="2.0.0"> ... trn:slots <slot> slot:keymystuff</slot:key> <slot:value type="string">mything</slot:value> </slot> survived a load-edit-save cycle.
