That's actually Red Hat's _German_ development team's support site.
(Denmark is .DK, Germany is .DE.)

Yes, it should be in English. I'm not sure why Red Hat's US FTP sites don't
carry this very useful thing. I'll look into mirroring it to our own MUUG
FTP server, in any case.
I've also updated the March meeting write-up on the MUUG meeting page...
http://www.muug.mb.ca/meetings/01-02.html#mar
... to include a link to the above rescue CD, plus a few other useful
links, including the security conference and the presentation notes to
Sean's GPG talk.

There was an admin;s CD and I was wondering that when there is an ISO
of it on the server could someone post it's location? As well, does
anyone have the URL off of that paper that got passed around, for the
security seminar? I had it written down, but I can't find the paper.
Thanks.

Since Gilbert cut the last set of Red Hat CDs (October 3 2001), more than
250 MB of updates have accumulated. Makes for one heck of an up2date session!
If someone wants to make CDs with all the current updates and …
[View More]bring them to
the next meeting, I'll buy a set.

The Manitoba UNIX User Group (MUUG) will be holding its next monthly
meeting on Tuesday, March 12. The meeting topic for this month is
as follows:
GPG - GNU Privacy Guard
GnuPG allows multiple parties to communicate over e-mail in a secure
manner. Using strong cryptography, not only can it protect …
[View More]documents
from being read by other parties, but it can verify the integrity and
sender.
This talk will cover the problems associated with ensuring the
security of e-mail, and the use of GnuPG to solve them. Sean Walberg
will be presenting this month's topic.
The group holds its general meetings at 7:30 PM on the second Tuesday of
every month from September to June. (There are no meetings in July and
August.) Meetings are open to the general public; you don't have to be a
MUUG member to attend.
**********************************************************************
Please note our new meeting location: The IBM offices, at 400 Ellice
Ave. (between Edmonton and Kennedy). When you arrive, you will have to
sign in at the reception desk, and then wait for someone to take you
(in groups) to the meeting room. Please try to arrive by about 7:15
PM, so the meeting can start promptly at 7:30 PM. Don't be late, or
you may not get in.
Limited parking is available for free on the street, or in a lot
across Ellice from IBM, for $1.00 for the evening. Indoor parking is
also available nearby, at Portage Place, for $2.00 for the evening.

For more information about MUUG, and its monthly meetings, check out their
Web server:
http://www.muug.mb.ca/
Also note that MUUG maintains two mailing lists, called "muug-announce"
and "roundtable". If you're not already on these lists, we encourage you
to subscribe now:
http://www.muug.mb.ca/mailman/listinfo/
The "muug-announce" list is used for monthly meeting announcements (such
as this one) as well as other important announcements of interest to MUUG
members.
The "rountable" list is meant to be a forum for follow-ups to topics
discussed at the meetings, or for round-table-style discussion on other
topics that come up between meetings. Of course, for this to be effective,
we need to reach a certain critical mass. So, please subscribe, and stay
involved!

Everything was running just fine.
Red Hat 7.2 had even found my modem and
I learning how to use Glame.
Then, because I was in a hurry, I did
a shutdown inside an xterm window in
KDE 2.2.1. Latter when I booted back up,
and did startx, it failed with this
error message:
Could not init font path element
unix/:700, removing from list!
Fatal server error:
Could not open default font 'fixed'
X10: fatal IO error 104
(Correction reset by peer) on X server ":0.0"
after 0 requests ( 0 known …
[View More]processed )
with 0 events remaining
Looks bad. And it got worse when I did
several xf86config and X still gives the
same error.
When I do a shutdown xfs gives an error.
I've got no idea what to do. So I sent a bug
report to xfree86(a)xfree86.org
I doubt I'll ever hear from them.
Has this happened to anyone else? Is there
a solution or will I have to re-install Red Hat?
