I just read on Cnet that excite@home was going broke and that over 800,000 AT&T internet users were cut off. Does this @home have anything to do with Shaw's cable @home service? Will Shaw's internet service be interrupted? Also read on the Byte site ( www.byte.com ) about Linux being used to savage that sunken Russian sub.
Shaw has been moving people off @home for months. They started working on moving to their own infrastructure when @home filed for bankruptcy protection earlier this year.
So far I haven't noticed any problems.

Shaw takes care of their own cable modem network, while some of the companies in the states relied on @Home to do the same. The extent of @home shutting down, wrt Winnipeg, would probably be limited to email and web pages, and then only for those that haven't moved from @home.com to @shaw.ca.
