One HDMI and one DVI on an NVidia GTX 970 (single card). I have a
similar setup at work with a different nVidia card, and both monitors
are dvi. I haven't tried nouveau in a long time. I should give it a
quick try this week.
I've never had an issue with kernel updates, either. It's just been
solid for a few years now (and Ubuntu release upgrades).
