Hi.

Receiving text messages would require the DIDs to be held by an Industry
Canada Licensed spectrum holder (ie: Wireless Carrier).

You could get a short code, they're $1k/month - $2k/month + usage, but
that would be a single digit string people could text messages to, with no
real sub-addressing mechanism (unless you trained the sender to prefix the
message, I guess)
