[*] Switch LD Providers

I wouldn't' think that would even be possible. The phone provider would
have to make another entry in their servers to support another VOIP server,
example in Asterisk, create another dial plan/trunk and what not. As a
provider, I just can't see them doing that.

But I would still like to see someone try. What I'm waiting for actually,
is the telemarketers that call, and try and switch your long-distance, to
try that with a Shaw/Vonage/Primus customer. If I had one of those
company's and got a call like that from a traditional LD provider, I'd sign
up just to see them try and figure out why it doesn't work. *evil laugh*

Also, with Shaw for example, you get a local phone with long distance
included, change providers, and all you have is a local line that costs you
$60/month. I don't know if Shaw offers A to Z termination, but that may be
a compelling reason to switch LD providers.

I have not looked at this page for a while but I see that a lot of work has
been
done on it:

http://www.voip-info.org/wiki-Asterisk

It looks like a good index to voip-info pages on Asterisk but perhaps
intimidating to newbies.

Of course you are free to add or modify existing wiki pages or create

I recall at the last meeting, someone mentioned that Primus? has a
provision in their contract that says you won't switch the default Long
Distance provider for your voip account.

At the time, this didn't make sense. However, it does now.

Would anyone like to try switching their Shaw/Primus/Vonage DID to
LES.NET for long distance and see what happens?

Les.
