Hi all, I'm thinking of getting a Mikrotik hEX router for light OpenVPN service. Is this a good choice? Are there better ones? Where would you recommend buying one?
Check kijiji .. local guy has some hex units for $50 .. good for experimenting with. Dan. On Sun, Jun 9, 2024, 19:57 Kevin McGregor <kevin.a.mcgregor@gmail.com> wrote:

Local (in Ft. Garry Place) authorized reseller with stock: https://shop.mahkesis.com/en/ethernet-routers/2-hex.html Personally, I would recommend getting the hEX-S with gigabit and SFP port, as it has a faster CPU - helpful if you're doing any sort of firewalling. Mahkesis does not have the -S in stock, but I'm sure others do (just not local). I didn't know Mtk did OpenVPN yet, that's neat! -Adam Get Outlook for Android<https://aka.ms/AAb9ysg> ________________________________ From: Roundtable <roundtable-bounces@muug.ca> on behalf of Kevin McGregor <kevin.a.mcgregor@gmail.com> Sent: Sunday, June 9, 2024 8:00:41 p.m. To: Continuation of Round Table discussion <roundtable@muug.ca> Subject: [RndTbl] Mikrotik routers Hi all, I'm thinking of getting a Mikrotik hEX router for light OpenVPN service. I got a hex for my home network, partly because it has the sfp and I'm hopeful. I also wanted a router that I wouldn't replace for a decade or two and it doesn't have to run my home Wi-Fi. Have not played with vpn stuff on it but that's a good plan. On 2024-06-09 23:23, Adam Thompson wrote:
