I had a few 'cat5e' runs at AW that were exhibiting strange issues - PoE didn't work well, more at the device power-on where you'd expect a surge of current. Crimps seemed really sensitive. Generally communication over them 'felt' off. I bypassed them and guessed it was wire damage from the construction but as I'm taking them down they seem undamaged.

I had heard of CCA 'fake cat5' before, http://www.twistedpair.co/caution-using-cooper-clad-aluminium-cat5-cable/ but never seen any. Scraped some of the wires and to my untrained eye it seems these are CCA. We can keep using them for analog cameras - didn't see any problems there yet - but nothing else.

These came from 3 boxes of 'ATcom NWC-215-313' that were bought at CBIT. I'm assuming fake products like this are one of the reasons they're out of business now, but if you have any boxes sitting around you may want to toss them.
