WINNIPEG, MB – You may not know it, but Winnipeg
pushes the technology envelope in all sorts of
interesting ways – we are the city that invented
SharePoint - true story. CIPS Manitoba has facilitated a
glimpse into the activities of two clubs in Winnipeg; a
Makerspace and a Hackerspace.
AssentWorks is a non-profit workshop
dedicated to providing hands-on access to fabrication
and prototyping equipment, knowledge, and a community of
support for entrepreneurs, inventors, tinkerers,
artists, and innovators. SkullSpace is
a Hackerspace, founded December 2010. It is a place for
hackers, builders, programmers, artists, and anybody
interested in how stuff works to gather in a common
place and help focus their knowledge and creativity.
SkullSpace is the largest Hackerspace in Canada.
Each group is comprised of experts from all sorts of
disciplines. If you’re interested in rapid prototyping,
3D printing, and fabrication, or your more into
programing, IT security and hardware, these groups have
a lot to offer.
CIPS Manitoba is your host for a behind-the-scenes tour
of both clubs. Starting at 5:30 PM, on Tuesday the 22nd
of January, 2013, SkullSpace located on the 2nd floor of
374 Donald St. will open its doors to CIPS members. The
tour will continue at 7:00PM over at AssentWorks located
on the 3rd floor of 125 Adelaide St. There
will be an informal reception at the King’s Head Pub,
120 King Street after the tours.
Please join us on the 22nd of January for a
look into two of the most engaging technology groups
this city has to offer. The technology landscape in
Manitoba has never been so dynamic and interesting.
Register early, you won't want to miss out on this
exciting discussion!
