The Infrastructure Architect, a key role within the Information Technology team, is responsible for ensuring that the enterprise infrastructure architecture meets the technical and business requirements of the organization. This includes assessment of new products and methodologies and the development and implementation of appropriate IT infrastructure best practices across multiple operating systems and platforms. As well, the infrastructure architect will implement proper lifecycle and capacity planning analysis disciplines.
Working as a resource to multiple projects, the role will assess and recommend appropriate solutions by participating in project scoping, requirements definition, and the investigation of alternative solutions. The role will also assist in lowering the total cost of ownership of infrastructure while ensuring return on investment.
As a member of the IT organization, you will provide technical expertise to peers, associates and management as it relates to the IT and business strategies. You will lead technical teams in the assessment, analysis and design phases of IT-related projects where your focus is on the selection of new hardware and software platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of the Infrastructure Architect include the following services:

Serve as the infrastructure architect lead in the assessment, analysis and design phases of the IT-related projects;
·
Develop and implement lifecycle and capacity management plans and practices for both hardware and software;
·
Lead teams in performing infrastructure changes adhering to change management best practices and impact assessment in a 24/7 highly available operating environment;
·
Leverage your technical subject matter expertise by providing leadership and direction through the coaching and mentoring of peers;
·
Documentation of infrastructure state and procedures to ensure our infrastructure remains cost effective, efficient and of high quality;
·
Liaise with IT vendors and assess product offerings for possible adoption;
·
Research and analyze IT best practices and keep abreast of industry changes;
·
Communicate project plans, status and issues throughout the annual lifecycle process;
·
Develop and implement capacity management disciplines for IT hardware and software infrastructure;
Qualifications
FGL is looking for an individual with broad industry and technology expertise that can develop and lead processes. The ideal candidate will meet the following:

University Degree or College Diploma
·
7-10 years (or equivalent) IT experience in progressive infrastructure related positions in both hardware and software;
·
A team player with excellent leadership and communication skills;
·
A track record of good project management and documentation skills;
·
Strong understanding of project management and system development lifecycle methodologies;
·
Able to balance immediate needs of a project with future enterprise requirements to achieve win-win opportunities;
·
Excellent IT industry knowledge;
·
Experience with different platforms, operating systems and technology architectures;
·
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills;
Assets:
·
Experience in systems analysis and/or enterprise architecture;
·
Experience developing standards and policies;
·
Knowledgeable in tying business applications to the correct infrastructure solution
·
Experience with Windows and Unix environments, specifically AIX
·
Detail oriented with impeccable documentation skills
·
Experienced with operational processes such as configuration management, capacity management, and change management solutions
