POSITION: Network Administrator CLASSIFICATION: Clerk IV DEPARTMENT: Information Technology START DATE: Immediately JOB SUMMARY Performs all daily work related to operations of network systems and Linux Servers. Tasks include but not limited to; - Installation and setup of various hardware and software as necessary - Trouble shoot problems on network systems and servers as well as all connected hardware and software - Provide help desk support as required - Provide staff training as required - Develop training for staff as required - Maintain all software at appropriate version and release levels - Source, recommend appropriate solutions to defined business problems - Maintain operations of networks - Provide first level support and primary contact for all vendor application problems - Administer system access and security - Keep system in top performance - Act as a advisory to Vice President Information Technology on associated issues - Reports directly to Vice President Information Technology
QUALIFICATIONS
PRIMARY . Grade XII. . Linux Certification or similar recognized designations . Network Administration experience . Linux server administration experience . PHP/My SQL for Applications programming experience preferred . Local Area Networking/ Wide Area Network experience preferred . Network Security, and Virtual Private Networking (VPN) . Ability to handle large volumes accurately . Ability to mange multiple tasks and priorities concurrently . Naturally inquisitive and able to pursue research as required . Keyboarding skills 50 wpm or better . Good organizational skills . Excellent ability to logically analyze problems and logical information flow . Excellent communication skills both written and oral . Ability to travel for remote support . Ability to work independently
SECONDARY . Previous office experience . Post secondary education an asset . Post secondary PC related courses . Novell or Red Hat Server Enterprise Linux Administration Experience . AIX Unix administration experience . Computer industry certification an asset . Programming skills an asset . Web development experience an asset . Lotus Domino/Notes experience an asset . SQL/Query experience an asset . Object oriented programming an asset . Currently employed at GHY . Ability to perform daily job functions in a mature and professional manner . Ability to work effectively in a team environment
