Director of Technology
Lead a team of System Administrators responsible for deploying and
administering leading edge technology to support a 7x24 mission critical
financial trading environment. You will lead an 8 member team of Solaris®
Admins, NT® Admins and Network Admins. Be responsible for managing a network
of 175+ Sun® workstations and servers, 10+ terabytes of raw disk, 40+
Compaq® servers in multiple NT/Windows® 2000 domains, 125 HP Windows®
NT4.0®/2000 workstations, Nortel® PBXs, Voice and Data Multiplexers, and a
complex internal Cisco® Gigabit/10/100 network.
As our environment continues to grow, we seek a Director of Technology to
manage the day to day operations of the System Admin team. The job includes
approximately 40% management duties and 60% hands-on technical work,
focusing mostly on Solaris administration. You must have expert level
Solaris® administration skills.
SCM is a fast-paced, demanding, hands-on environment. Only seasoned project
and team managers with commanding hands-on technical experience with SCMs
technology will be considered for this role. SCM's selective hiring process

Top projects and challenges for next 6 months include:
· Continue migrating to Sol® 8.
· Continue migrating to Ultra Sparc3® machines
· Deploy additional Sybase® HA solutions using Veritas® Cluster Server and
T3 SANS.
· Evaluating NFS clusters, server consolidation using 8+ CPU machines and
the domain based systems, and database consolidation using SAN technology.
· Upgrade existing real-time quote back-end distribution systems
· Evaluate a disk to disk Legato® backup solution
· Continue migrating to Win2K®.
· Lotus Notes Database development for task automation and record keeping
· Implement CiscoSecure and QOS
· Research and deploy Unix, NT/Win2000, and Network system security
· Research and deploy Unix, NT/Win2000, and Network system monitoring
Primary Responsibilities:
· Plan, administer, and support all IT activities for SCM, such as
networking, security, system design and data warehousing.
· Provide technical direction for a group of 8 System Administrators.
· Unix Administration - Act as lead Solaris Architect.
· Provide management with project recommendations and status for the
Technical Department.
· Work directly with traders, developers and analysts.
Requirements of the Candidate include:
· 7 years of hands-on Solaris® admin experience.
· Minimum of 3 years team management experience.
· Technical proficiency with SCM Technologies and ability to provide
leadership with these and developing technologies.
· Hands-on experience with Software and hardware RAID solutions using Disk
Suite® and Veritas® Volume Manager on A5XXX® and T3®.
· Research, evaluation and implementation of various fault tolerant and HA
solutions
· NIS
Highly desirable experience:
· NFS cluster, domain based systems, and database consolidation using SAN
technology.
· NetApp®
· Large data center (10+ Terabytes).
· Supporting financial trade applications such as Tibco®, Reuters® and
Bloomberg®.
· NT/Win2K
· Firm understanding of networking and experience with Cisco® gear.
