<p>The name is an attempt at riffing off the photography basis of the word "snapshot". The<span> </span><a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daguerreotype" rel="nofollow">daguerreotype</a><span> </span>process was an early method for taking photographs, and this is a method for taking "photographs" of Debian at a given point in time.</p>
