IT Systems Integration and Support Specialist - Information Technologist 
4 (AESES) Existing Budget-Funded Continuing Full-Time 35.00 hours/week; 
8:30 am - 4:30 pm; Monday through Friday Salary Range: $36.01 - $48.17 
per hour ($65,538.20 - $87,669.40 per annum) Proposed Start Date: August

Responsibilities :

-Plan and develop IT infrastructure for the department. -Evaluate, 
select, install, test, maintain, update, and troubleshoot over 40 
Windows, macOS, Unix, and Linux server systems. -Maintain the main 
Department server room and three small server rooms. -Provide training 
to faculty, support staff, or students. -Consult with faculty, staff, 
and students in the department, faculty, or university. -Provide 
coverage for other department IT support staff when they are absent. 
-Manage the 5 computer labs of Windows, Linux, and Mac systems and the 
network connecting them. -Research, recommend, install, test, and 
troubleshoot software packages needed for courses. -Manage the 
specialized hardware for the labs. -Evaluate, install, maintain, update, 
and troubleshoot systems to support over 10 different research groups. 
-Work with researchers to plan and develop the technical needs of 
research projects. -Act as a knowledge resource for researchers in all 
areas of IT systems and management. -Administer software license 
programs and site-licensed software. -Evaluate, select, purchase, and 
recommend new license agreements on behalf of the Department. -Ensure 
that use of the software follows the licensing agreements. -Manage 
distribution of program- and site-licensed software to staff and students.

Qualifications :

MINIMUM FORMAL EDUCATION/TRAINING: -Bachelor of Computer Science or 
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science is required. EXPERIENCE: 
-Minimum 3 years of experience in a medium sized IT organization 
required (preferably academic) dealing with procurement, equipment 
lifecycle management, server administration, desktops, troubleshooting, 
software licensing, and virtualization. -Experience in programming in 
various high-level and scripting languages is required. -Microsoft 
Certified Solutions Expert, Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator, or 
equivalent experience is required. -Experience in managing at an expert 
level is required: Macintosh desktops, Linux servers and desktops, 
Network switches and infrastructure, Systems analysis and integration, 
Virtual environments with KVM, Virtualbox, VMware and File systems and 
storage arrays. -An acceptable equivalent combination of education and 
experience may be considered. SKILLS & ABILITIES: -Mac server and client 
administration skills required. -IPA/NIS/NFS administration skills 
required. -Linux server and client administration skills required. -Must 
have Active Directory administration skills. -Must have Internet 
services administration skills. -Network management and configuration 
skills required. -Programming in scripting skills required (eg: Unix 
shell, AppleScript, PHP, Perl) and high level languages (eg: Java, C, 
Python) -Virtual host management skills required. -Ability to manage 
software license agreements is required. Android and iOS support skills 
required. -Must be able to design and manage backup solutions. -Must be 
able to train faculty, staff, and students in IT systems. -Hardware and 
software procurement skills required. -Must be able to manage server 
room facilities. -Ability to work under stress is required. -Must be 
able to multitask between the key responsibilities. -Must be able to 
prioritize tasks. -Ability to work independently with minimal 
supervision, as the position is largely self-directed, is required. 
-Must be able to manage self-directed learning for new technologies and 
changes to existing ones. -Must be able to troubleshoot heterogeneous 
systems and anticipate problems before they arise. -Ability to train 
faculty, staff, and students in using new hardware or software is 
required. -Ability to evaluate hardware and software to meet teaching 
and research requirements is required. -Must be able to communicate 
clearly and effectively both in person and in writing. -Ability to act 
as a consultant to faculty, staff, and students is essential. 
-Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and 
punctuality, is required.
